The surgeries we perform include, but are not limited to, spays (ovariohysterectomy in females) and neuters (orchidectomy in males); hernia and laceration repair; tumor removal and surgical biopsy; urinary bladder, stomach, and intestinal surgeries; abscess surgeries; eye surgeries; and orthopedic surgeries. We also have electrosurgery equipment, which we use to reduce bleeding and pain, thereby increasing safety and minimizing recovery time.
What Options Does My Pet Have for Anesthesia?
At Edgewater Animal Hospital, we offer a number of anesthetics depending on the patient’s procedure and medical condition. We recommend the use of balanced anesthesia, which means we use sedation, pain medication, and local and general anesthesia. Balanced anesthesia is desirable because it allows us to use less general anesthesia and provides better patient comfort from start to finish. For additional safety, we provide patients with IV catheters and fluids, patient monitoring equipment, and pain management to ensure their comfort throughout the recovery period.
