We at Edgewater Animal continue to monitor the situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. As a veterinary office, we will stay open to provide necessary care to our pets. However, we will continue to sanitize, take steps to provide a healthy environment and follow recommended guidelines. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment and to receive special instructions from us.
Based on information from the AVMA, there is no evidence that pets can contract or carry COVID-19. However, out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that those ill with COVID-19, or ill with similar symptoms, limit contact with animals until more information is known about the virus. If you are not ill with COVID-19, you can interact with your pet as you normally would, including walking, feeding, and playing. You should continue to practice good hygiene during those interactions (e.g., wash hands before and after interacting with your pet.
Our office philosophy has always been to practice high-level and low-volume vet care in a clean, safe and professional environment. When appropriate we will try to move clients and pets immediately into exam rooms, provide check outs in the exam rooms, and get as much medical history on the phone, or via on-line forms or email prior to appointments. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment and to receive special instructions from us.
